EXAMINATION RESULTS 2022
At The Ecclesbourne School we work hard to ensure that every child is supported and challenged to realise their potential and we are proud of all our students’ academic and other achievements. We believe that when children, whatever their starting points or aptitudes, are encouraged and inspired in an orderly and purposeful environment then they make the progress of which they are capable. Our students are to be congratulated for their achievement in terms of the exceptionally high proportion who gained good passes at GCSE and A Level this year but also in terms of the progress they made. Examination results achieved by Ecclesbourne students have remained consistently well above national comparisons for the last several years at a time of considerable change in the exam system and the way the success of schools is measured
Our students’ fantastic achievements this year continue The Ecclesbourne School’s proud tradition of high academic achievement for all and mean that the vast majority of our students were able to gain places on their chosen post-16 courses. All of this serves as a testament to the commitment of our students, the skill and dedication of our staff and governors and the incredible support we receive from parents and carers.
EXAM RESULTS FOR 2022 – HIGHLIGHTS
GCSE
- Progress at GCSE was line with ambitious targets based on strong prior attainment.
- Attainment 8 Score 60.63
- Progress 8 Score +0.54
- 89% of students achieved a 4 (C) or better in both English and Mathematics
- 73% of students achieved a 5 or better in both English and Mathematics
- 88.2% of our students secured 5 or more GCSEs at 9-4 (A*-C) or better in both English and Mathematics
- 69.2% of our students secured 5 or more GCSEs at 9-5 or better in both English and Mathematics
- 63.7% of students entered the English Baccalaureate
- 56% of students achieved the English Baccalaureate 9-4
- 44% of students achieved the English Baccalaureate 9-5
- 41% of grades were at 9-7(A*/A)

- Progress at A Level was line with ambitious targets based on strong GCSE prior attainment.
PROGRESS IN ENGLISH AND MATHS
- 100% of the students achieved at least a GCSE grade 4 or above in English and Mathematics during their time at Ecclesbourne.
STUDENT RETENTION – 2019 DATA
- 98.4% of students who embarked on a program of study completed it. This figure is significantly higher than the Derbyshire (95.5%) or National (95.3%) retention figures.

- 95% (169) of students are in education, employment or training
- 76% (129) of Students went to University
- 35% (59) of these students went to a Russell Group University and 2% (2) to Oxbridge
- 5% (9) students have taken a gap year with 100% (9) of them applying to university in 2017
- 4% (8) students have an apprenticeship, with highly regarded companies such as Rolls Royce, Bombardier and Marks and Spencer
- 11% (20) students have gone directly into employment
